Basic Banana Pudding

Ingredients

  • 6 eggs, separated
  • 3 c. milk
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 lb. vanilla wafers
  • 6 medium ripe bananas, sliced

Instructions

  1. Mix egg yolks, milk, 1 1/2 cups sugar and flour.
  2. Cook in double boiler until medium thick.
  3. Let cool.
  4. Layer wafers and bananas in large Pyrex dish.
  5. Pour milk mixture over.
  6. Beat egg whites until stiff.
  7. Add remaining sugar and flavoring.
  8. Spread over pudding.
  9. Brown in 350° oven until golden brown.
  10. Yields 10 servings.
