Basic Strada With Variations

Ingredients

  • 10 slices bread
  • 10 eggs
  • 3 c. milk
  • 12 slices cheese, any kind
  • 1 c. grated cheese
  • butter or margarine

Instructions

  1. Remove crusts.
  2. Butter each slice, place six slices of bread, butter side down in 9 x 13-inch pan.
  3. Cover with cheese slices. Repeat layers.
  4. Put grated cheese on top.
  5. Pour milk and egg mixture over all.
  6. Refrigerate four hours or overnight.
  7. Bake 1 hour at 350° and let stand 20 minutes before serving.
  8. Makes 15 servings.
