Ingredients

  • 4 to 5 cups Arrowhead Mills stone ground whole wheat flour
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 3/4 cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons honey or molasses
  • 2 teaspoons sea salt
  • 2 tablespoons nonfat powdered milk
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Pour water into a large mixing bowl and sprinkle with yeast. Allow yeast to dissolve, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add honey, salt, dry milk, oil, and 2 cups of flour to the bowl.
  3. Stir well to combine.
  4. Continue to stir, adding a little flour at a time, until the dough becomes stiff and pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
  5. Turn dough onto a floured board and knead for 5 to 7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  6. Shape the dough and place it in an oiled 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.
  7. Allow the loaf to rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F and bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until done.
