Ingredients

  • Flour
  • 1 large onion
  • 5 lb. brisket
  • 1 package onion gravy mix
  • 1 package mushroom gravy mix
  • 1 cup Italian Salad Dressing
  • 2 cups burgundy wine

Instructions

  1. Salt, pepper, and coat the brisket with flour.
  2. Brown the coated brisket in a skillet using 1 cup of Italian Salad Dressing.
  3. Remove the browned brisket from the skillet.
  4. In a 9x13-inch baking pan, mix the onion gravy mix, mushroom gravy mix, and 2 cups of burgundy wine.
  5. Place the brisket into the gravy mixture in the pan.
  6. Cover the pan with foil and bake at 220°F (104°C) for about 4 hours or until very tender.
  7. If necessary, add more wine during cooking.
  8. About one hour before the brisket is finished, slice the onion thinly and place on top of the brisket.
  9. Return to the oven and cook for the last hour.
