Ingredients

  • 1 pt. vegetable oil
  • 2 lb. ground beef

Instructions

  1. Heat a pint of vegetable oil to about 175°F.
  2. Add the ground beef to the hot oil and stir until the meat juices begin to boil.
  3. Cook and stir for 10 more minutes, breaking up the meat, until the juices are barely bubbling.
  4. Pour the meat and oil into a strainer and save the liquid.
  5. Pour a cup or two of boiling water over the meat in the strainer to loosen the meat and collect the water with the rest of the liquid.
  6. Place the liquid in the refrigerator for 1 hour, then skim off the hardened fat.
  7. Pour the fat-free liquid over the cooked meat.
  8. The meat is now ready to use in any dish that calls for ground beef.
