Ingredients

  • 6 c. flour
  • 2 c. powdered sugar
  • 1 3/4 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 1 1/2 c. shortening
  • 5 eggs (save 1 white)
  • 1 tsp. almond extract

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients except 1 egg white.
  2. Knead for 5 minutes. Pinch off pieces of dough the size of an apricot and roll between palms into strips the size and thickness of a finger.
  3. Beat egg white with a fork and brush each piece of dough with it.
  4. Place 1-inch apart on greased cookie sheet.
  5. Bake at 350° for 10 minutes.
