Ingredients

  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 5 c. all-purpose flour
  • 5 tsp. baking powder

Instructions

  1. Cream shortening and sugar in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Stir in vanilla.
  4. Add flour and baking powder a little at a time, mixing until dough holds together.
  5. Knead the dough until smooth.
  6. Form the dough into balls or finger shapes.
  7. Place the shapes about 2 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet.
  8. Bake at 350°F until light brown, about 10 minutes.
  9. Cool the biscotti.
  10. Dust with confectioners sugar frosting before serving.
