Ingredients

  • 1 quart wild blueberries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 cups soft bread cubes
  • a little lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Mix the blueberries, sugar, salt, and water in a saucepan.
  2. Heat slowly on simmer for about 5 minutes.
  3. Pour melted butter over soft bread cubes and stir into the hot blueberries.
  4. Be careful not to crush the berries.
  5. Keep warm for about 30 minutes but do not cook further.
  6. Add a little lemon juice to the mixture.
  7. Serve with ice cream.
