Ingredients

  • 1 cake yeast
  • 1/4 cup lukewarm water
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 pound margarine
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1/2 pint sour cream

Instructions

  1. Crumble the cake yeast into the lukewarm water with 1 teaspoon of sugar; let stand until dissolved.
  2. Mix flour, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and margarine as for pie crust; add egg yolks, sour cream, and the dissolved yeast mixture.
  3. Knead the mixture into a soft dough; refrigerate overnight.
  4. Roll out the chilled dough on a lightly floured board to about 1/2 inch thickness.
  5. Cut out small circles using a doughnut cutter; place them on a cookie sheet with rounds touching.
  6. Let the dough rise until doubled in size.
  7. Make an imprint in the center of each circle and fill with your choice of pie filling.
  8. Bake at 375°F for 25 minutes until golden brown.
