Braised Leeks

Tender braised leeks infused with white wine, thyme, and bay leaf, offering a delicate, flavorful side perfect for elegant dinners or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 3 to 4 large leeks, cleaned, trimmed and chopped in 1-inch chunks
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 cup white wine
  • 1 teaspoon butter (optional)
  • 1 whole clove
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme or 2 to 3 sprigs fresh thyme
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a saute pan and sauté the leeks until coated with butter.
  2. Add the bay leaf, white wine, clove, thyme, salt, and pepper to the pan.
  3. Simmer, covered, until the leeks are tender, about 10 to 15 minutes.
  4. Remove the bay leaf, clove, and thyme sprigs before serving.
  5. Drain excess liquid if the leeks appear too watered down.
