Braised Venison Chops

Tender venison chops braised in rich Burgundy wine with mushrooms, offering deep flavors perfect for a comforting, hearty meal suited for special occasions or family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon shortening
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup Burgundy or Claret wine
  • 1 small can mushrooms
  • 4 to 6 chops

Instructions

  1. Roll chops in well-seasoned flour with salt and pepper.
  2. Brown the chops well in shortening.
  3. Add 1/2 cup water and simmer until the chops are tender.
  4. Pour 1 cup Burgundy or Claret wine over the chops and cook down until almost dry.
  5. Remove the chops and make gravy using the pan juices, adding the small can of mushrooms.
  6. Simmer the gravy for 3 minutes.
  7. Pour the gravy over the chops before serving.
