- Obtain an eight-cup apothecary jar with a loose-fitting lid. Drain the fruit well.
- Put the fruit, sugar, and dried yeast into the jar and stir with a plastic spoon.
- Put the lid on the jar and allow it to ferment in a warm place or on your range top for two weeks.
- Stir the mixture once every day during fermentation.
- Use only a plastic spoon when handling the ingredients or stirring.
- After seven days, the mixture is ready to use, but do not add more fruit for two weeks.
- Ensure the contents of the jar never fall below three cups, or the fermentation process will stop.
