Instructions
- Dissolve yeast and sugar in very warm water.
- Let set about 5 minutes until foamy.
- Beat in salt, shortening, and 2 cups of flour.
- Add enough remaining flour to make a stiff dough.
- Turn dough out on a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic.
- Roll dough into a ball.
- Place in a greased bowl and turn to grease the top.
- Let rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
- Punch down dough and divide into 8 equal pieces.
