Ingredients

  • 2 cups chopped ripe tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 thick slices Italian bread

Instructions

  1. Mix chopped tomatoes, olive oil, minced garlic, and salt in a small bowl.
  2. Let stand so tomatoes release their juices.
  3. Brush both sides of bread slices with olive oil.
  4. Broil bread slices 4 to 5 inches from heat source until lightly browned on both sides.
  5. Place bread on serving plates and spoon the tomato topping over slices.
  6. Serve immediately.
