- Cream butter and sugar until smooth and fluffy.
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Sift dry ingredients together; add alternately with milk and vanilla.
- Bake in a greased and floured loaf pan (9 1/2 x 5 1/2-inch) at 325° for 1 1/2 hours.
- Cool pan 5 minutes; turn out on rack until cold.
