Butterdips

Butterdips are flaky, buttery breadsticks with a soft interior and crisp exterior, perfect for snacking or serving alongside soups and salads. Easy and delicious.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 2 1/4 cups sifted flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 scant teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in an oblong 13 x 9-inch pan.
  2. Sift together dry ingredients and add milk.
  3. Stir slowly until dough just clings together.
  4. Turn dough onto a floured board.
  5. Coat with flour and knead lightly about 10 times.
  6. Roll dough out to a 1/2-inch thick rectangle.
  7. Cut into strips using a pizza cutter.
  8. Dip strips into melted butter on both sides and arrange in the pan.
  9. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes at 450° in a metal pan or 425° in a glass pan.
