Ingredients

  • cucumbers
  • 1 c. lime
  • 1 gal. water
  • vinegar
  • sugar
  • pickling spices

Instructions

  1. Wash and slice the cucumbers.
  2. Prepare lime water by mixing 1 cup lime with 1 gallon water and cover the sliced cucumbers with this solution.
  3. Let the cucumbers stand in lime water overnight.
  4. Wash the cucumbers thoroughly to remove lime residue.
  5. Place the cucumbers in an enamel container.
  6. Cover with vinegar and sugar in equal amounts.
  7. Add pickling spices to taste.
  8. Cook the mixture just barely boiling for 3 hours.
  9. Transfer the hot pickles into sterile jars and seal.
