Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 15 to 20 candy canes

Instructions

  1. Keep popped corn in a 225°F oven to stay warm.
  2. Butter the sides of a saucepan. Combine sugar, light corn syrup, vinegar, 1 1/2 cups water, and 1/2 teaspoon salt in the saucepan.
  3. Cook until the mixture reaches the hard-ball stage (250°F on a candy thermometer). Stir in vanilla.
  4. Pour the hot syrup mixture slowly over the warm popcorn; stir just to mix well.
  5. Butter your hands and shape the mixture into balls around the candy canes.
