Delicious homemade candy turtles feature rich caramel, crunchy pecans, and smooth chocolate, perfect for sharing or gifting, offering a delightful combination of textures and flavors.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. caramels
  • 2 Tbsp. heavy cream
  • 1 1/4 c. pecan halves
  • 4 squares semi-sweet chocolate

Instructions

  1. Melt caramels with heavy cream over hot water.
  2. Let the caramel mixture cool for about 10 minutes.
  3. Arrange pecan halves in groups of three on a lightly greased baking sheet, with one for the head and two for the legs.
  4. Spoon the melted caramel over the nuts, leaving the tips of the pecans showing.
  5. Let the caramel-coated turtles stand for 30 minutes to set.
  6. Melt the semi-sweet chocolate over hot water.
  7. Remove the melted chocolate from the water and stir until smooth. Cool slightly.
  8. Spread the melted chocolate over the caramel of the turtles, avoiding covering the nut tips.
