Ingredients

  • 14 oz. bag caramels
  • 2/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 package chocolate cake mix with pudding
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped nuts
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 6 oz. package semi-sweet chocolate pieces

Instructions

  1. Melt caramels with 1/3 cup evaporated milk over low heat, stirring until smooth.
  2. Combine remaining evaporated milk with cake mix, melted margarine, and mix well.
  3. Press half of the cake mix into the bottom of a greased 9x13-inch pan.
  4. Bake at 350°F for 6 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle one cup nuts, shredded coconut, and semi-sweet chocolate pieces over the crust.
  6. Pour the caramel mixture over the toppings.
  7. Drop teaspoons of the remaining cake mix over the caramel and gently press into the caramel layer.
  8. Sprinkle remaining nuts on top and press lightly into the surface.
  9. Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes.
  10. Cool slightly, then refrigerate before serving.
