Ingredients

  • 1 box light brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 blocks oleo
  • 1/2 cup canned milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a saucepan.
  2. Add the light brown sugar and canned milk.
  3. Stir until all lumps are dissolved.
  4. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil that cannot be stirred down and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Remove from heat and add vanilla.
  6. Let the caramel set for a few minutes, then heat until it reaches the right consistency to spread.
  7. Use to cover a 3-layer cake.
