Ingredients

  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Brown 1/4 cup of the sugar in a saucepan.
  2. Mix the remaining sugar with the evaporated milk.
  3. Bring the milk and sugar mixture to a slow boil.
  4. Add the browned sugar syrup slowly into the boiling mixture.
  5. Continue boiling until the mixture reaches the hard ball stage in water.
  6. Remove from heat, beat the mixture, then add butter and vanilla.
  7. Pour into a greased pan and let cool before cutting into pieces.
