Instructions
- Dissolve yeast in hot water and stir until mixed.
- Add sugar, shortening, and salt to the yeast mixture.
- Add 4 cups of the plain flour and mix by hand or with a mixer.
- Add 2 eggs to the dough.
- Gradually add up to 3 more cups of plain flour until the dough is workable.
- Let the dough rise for 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
- Roll the dough out and cut with a biscuit cutter.
- Fold each cut dough piece in half and brush with melted butter.
- Let the shaped rolls rise again for 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
- Bake at 400°F for 6 to 8 minutes until golden brown.
