Cascaron is a sweet Filipino treat with a chewy mochiko exterior and caramelized brown sugar glaze, perfect for snacking or festive occasions. Crispy, sweet, and coconut-flavored.

Ingredients

  • 3 boxes mochiko
  • 1 can condensed milk
  • 2 cups grated young coconut
  • 3 cups warm water
  • 1 pound brown sugar
  • vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Combine mochiko, grated young coconut, and condensed milk in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add warm water and mix well until a smooth dough forms.
  3. Shape the mixture into 1 1/4-inch balls.
  4. Deep fry the balls until they are light brown and cooked through.
  5. Optional: Poke 2 to 3 cascarons onto a bamboo skewer if desired.
  6. Glaze the fried cascarons with melted brown sugar before serving.
