Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. Peel and core the apples.
  2. Place the apples face up in a 13 x 9-inch pan.
  3. Place a pat of butter in the center of each apple.
  4. Prepare the sauce by combining brown sugar, cornstarch, water, and vanilla.
  5. Cook the sauce over low heat for 5 minutes.
  6. Pour the sauce over the apples.
  7. Bake at 350°F for 20 to 25 minutes until tender.
  8. Serve warm topped with walnut pieces.
  9. Great by itself or served with vanilla ice cream.
