- Preheat oven to 400°.
- Dump flour, sugar and baking powder in bowl. Sift 2 or 3 times.
- Cut in shortening.
- Blend until of coarse cornmeal texture.
- Add buttermilk; stir about 12 strokes until well mixed and loose from sides of bowl.
- Turn onto floured surface.
- Sprinkle flour over dough.
- Knead for about 30 seconds, not too much.
- Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness.
- Cut.
- Place on heavily greased pan.
- Place in oven.
- Bake until light brown, 10 to 15 minutes.
- Melt margarine and baste biscuits when done.
