  • 1/2 oz. lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. grenadine
  • 2 oz. brandy
  • 3 to 4 ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Combine orange juice, lemon juice, grenadine, brandy, and ice cubes in a mixing glass.

  3. Remove the shaker from the glass.
  4. Place a strainer on top of the mixing glass and pour into a large wine glass.

Tips & Substitutions

For a sweeter drink, adjust the grenadine to your taste. If you don't have brandy, you can substitute with cognac or whiskey for a different flavor profile. Freshly squeezed juices will enhance the taste significantly. Make sure to shake well to mix the ingredients thoroughly and chill the drink. For a fun twist, consider infusing your orange juice with hibiscus for added flavor.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the Champagne Pick-Me-Up in a large wine glass for an elegant touch. Garnish with a twist of orange peel or a cherry for an added flair. This cocktail pairs beautifully with light appetizers like shrimp, okra and rice or stuffed 'Ponce'. It’s perfect for brunch or as a refreshing evening drink.

Storage & Reheating

This cocktail is best enjoyed fresh and should not be stored as the carbonation from the champagne will dissipate quickly. If you have leftover ingredients, store the orange juice and lemon juice in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Mix fresh ingredients again when ready to serve for the best taste.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this cocktail non-alcoholic?

Absolutely! To make a non-alcoholic version, simply replace the brandy with additional orange juice or a sparkling non-alcoholic wine. You can also add soda water for some fizz while keeping the flavor profile intact.

What type of champagne should I use?

You can use any type of dry champagne or sparkling wine that you enjoy. A brut champagne works well as it balances the sweetness of the grenadine and juices. Alternatively, a prosecco can also be a delightful substitute.

How can I adjust the sweetness of this cocktail?

To adjust the sweetness, you can modify the amount of grenadine used. If you prefer a less sweet drink, reduce the grenadine to 1/2 teaspoon or omit it altogether. Adding more citrus juice can also help balance the sweetness.
