Ingredients

  • 4 cups bread cubes
  • 1/2 pound sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 eggs
  • salt

Instructions

  1. Place bread cubes in a 6-cup casserole (13 x 9). Add cheese cubes and mix.
  2. Beat eggs; add milk, salt, and pepper.
  3. Pour the egg mixture over the bread and cheese cubes.
  4. Let stand for at least 1 hour or overnight.
  5. Stick triangles of buttered bread slices around the top to form a crown and bake.
