Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup Crisco
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

Instructions

  1. Mix the first six ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, Crisco) together.
  2. Add the eggs, milk, and vanilla to the dry mixture and blend well.
  3. Take two-thirds of the mixture and press it onto a slightly greased cookie sheet.
  4. Spread two cans of cherry pie filling evenly over the pressed mixture.
  5. Roll out the remaining one-third of the mixture and cut it into strips.
  6. Lay the strips onto the cherry filling in a lattice or decorative pattern.
  7. Bake for 30 minutes at 350°F (175°C).
