- Blend together sugar and shortening.
- Sift dry ingredients. Add alternately cherry juice and milk with dry ingredients and vanilla.
- Beat egg whites stiff.
- Fold into batter.
- Add cherries and walnuts.
- Bake about 45 minutes at 350°.
