Ingredients

  • 1 lb. hamburger
  • 1 can beef consomme
  • 1/2 can water
  • 1 1/4 c. rice (not instant)
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 pepper, chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 can sliced water chestnuts

Instructions

  1. Brown meat and onion.
  2. Add pepper, celery and water chestnuts. Add consomme with water; bring to boil.
  3. Add uncooked rice.
  4. Cover and simmer until rice is done.
  5. Stir often to keep rice from sticking.
  6. Add water as needed until rice is done.
