Ingredients

  • 3 slightly beaten eggs
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 cups scalded milk
  • 1 unbaked 8-inch pastry shell
  • 1/4 cup milk chocolate pieces

Instructions

  1. Combine the eggs, sugar, salt, and ground nutmeg in a bowl.
  2. Stir in the hot milk and mix well.
  3. Pour the mixture into the unbaked pastry shell.
  4. Bake at 425°F until a knife inserted just off center comes out clean, about 25 minutes.
  5. Cool the pie.
  6. Melt the chocolate with 4 teaspoons of milk over low heat, stirring constantly.
  7. Remove from heat and stir in additional milk a few drops at a time until of spreading consistency.
  8. Quickly spread the melted chocolate over the cooled pie.
  9. Chill the pie before serving.
