  • 1/2 onion
  • 1/2 lemon or lime
  • 1 clove garlic or garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Scoop out the middle of the avocados and mash with a fork or potato masher.
  2. Cut up the tomato and onion; combine with the mashed avocados.
  3. Squeeze lemon or lime juice into the mixture.
  4. Chop garlic and add to the mixture. If using garlic powder, sprinkle the desired amount.
  5. Mix all ingredients thoroughly with a fork.

Tips & Substitutions

For a creamier guacamole, use ripe avocados and mash them just enough to leave some chunks. If you're out of fresh garlic, garlic powder works well in a pinch. You can also add a pinch of chili seasoning mix for a little heat. Customize with chopped cilantro or diced jalapeños for extra flavor, keeping in line with popular Mexican recipes.

Serving Suggestions

Serve this guacamole with tortilla chips for a classic snack. It also pairs beautifully with Deluxe Nachos, or as a topping for tacos and burritos. For a refreshing drink, consider enjoying it alongside a 2 Ounce Margarita. Adding fresh veggies like cucumber or bell peppers can enhance your appetizer spread.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. To prevent browning, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole before sealing the container. It's best consumed within 1-2 days. Reheat is not recommended, as guacamole is best served fresh.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make guacamole ahead of time?

Yes, you can prepare guacamole a few hours in advance. To keep it fresh, store it in an airtight container with plastic wrap pressed against the surface to minimize air exposure. However, it’s best enjoyed fresh to maintain its vibrant flavor and color.

What can I substitute for avocados?

If you need a substitute for avocados, consider using mashed peas or a store-bought guacamole. However, these won't provide the same creamy texture or flavor. For a vegan dip, try blending silken tofu with lime juice and seasonings for a unique twist.

How do I spice up my guacamole?

To spice up your guacamole, incorporate diced jalapeños or a sprinkle of chili seasoning mix. You can also add finely chopped red onion or a dash of hot sauce, like Bill's Homemade Hot Sauce, to enhance the flavor and give it a kick.
