Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 c. walnut pieces
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 t. cinnamon
  • 1/2 t. salt
  • 1 1/2 t. vanilla

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and heat the walnut pieces for 5 minutes.
  2. In a heavy saucepan, combine sugar, water, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Cook the mixture to 236°F on a candy thermometer.
  4. Remove from heat and beat by hand about 1 minute until the mixture begins to look creamy.
  5. Add vanilla to the mixture.
  6. Mix in the warm walnuts and stir to coat evenly.
