Ingredients

  • 6 lemons
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup grapefruit juice, chilled
  • 2 (12 oz.) cans light beer, chilled
  • cracked ice
  • lemon slices (optional)

Instructions

  1. Remove peel from the lemons and set aside.
  2. Juice the lemons to obtain about 2 cups of lemon juice.
  3. In a large saucepan, stir together the sugar and water.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  5. Add the reserved lemon peel to the boiling mixture.
  6. Remove from heat and cover, letting stand for 5 minutes.
  7. Discard the lemon peel.
  8. Add the lemon juice and grapefruit juice to the sugar mixture.
  9. Transfer the mixture to a 2 1/2 to 3-quart pitcher, cover, and chill completely.
  10. Just before serving, add chilled light beer and cracked ice to the pitcher.
  11. Garnish with lemon slices if desired and serve.
