Coconut Pompons

Ingredients

  • 1 c. margarine or butter
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. flour (do not sift)
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • shredded coconut
  • walnut or pecan pieces

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°.
  2. Cream butter or margarine, sugar and vanilla, then add flour and salt.
  3. (Can be refrigerated for easier handling.)
  4. Shape dough around piece of nut or half a cherry to form 1-inch balls.
  5. Roll in shredded coconut.
  6. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake 18 minutes.
