Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup lukewarm water
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 eggs

Instructions

  1. Scald the milk and let it cool.
  2. Combine flour, sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  3. Cut in the shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Dissolve the dry yeast in lukewarm water.
  5. Combine the beaten eggs with the cooled milk.
  6. Add the yeast mixture and the egg-milk mixture to the flour mixture.
  7. Mix lightly until the flour is moist; do not knead.
  8. Divide the dough into three parts; roll out one part like cinnamon rolls.
  9. Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on the rolled-out dough.
  10. Place the rolled dough on a cookie sheet.
  11. Repeat with remaining dough parts as desired.
  12. Bake at 350°F for 5 to 8 minutes until golden.
