Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 1 3/4 c. warm milk
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. margarine
  • 6 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Dissolve 2 packages yeast in warm water in large bowl.
  2. Add warm milk.
  3. Add sugar, salt and margarine.
  4. Stir in 2 cups flour. Beat with rotary beater until smooth for 1 minute.
  5. Add l cup flour, beat 2 minutes.
  6. Gradually stir in enough additional flour about 2 1/2 to 3 cups to make a stiff dough.
  7. Turn onto lightly floured board.
  8. Knead until smooth and elastic (5 to 10 minutes). Cover dough with plastic wrap and towel.
  9. Let rest 20 minutes. Shape into loaves or rolls.
  10. Put into greased pans.
  11. Brush surface of wax paper with oil, lay over pans.
  12. Place pans in refrigerator for 2 to 24 hours.
  13. When read to bake, remove from refrigerator, uncover dough carefully.
  14. Let stand at room temperature, uncovered 10 minutes.
  15. Puncture any gas bubbles with greased toothpicks. Bake at 400°.
  16. Bake loaves 30 to 40 minutes; rolls 12 to 18 minutes.
  17. Brush with melted butter.
  18. Recipe can be doubled or tripled easily.
