  1. Sift the dry ingredients together. Heat the milk and shortening. Mix the egg and flour mixture and work until well blended. Then add melted shortening and milk, mixing until it makes a stiff dough. Beat with a rolling pin until the dough cracks when broken.
  2. Divide the dough into about four parts and roll each part as thin as paper. Stick a fork into the dough and cut into strips and sections like store-bought crackers.
  3. Bake at 300°F until a delicate brown color is achieved.
  4. They are ready to serve!
