Ingredients

  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 3/4 c. sifted flour
  • 2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar

Instructions

  1. Cream shortening in large bowl of electric mixer.
  2. Add 1 1/2 cups sugar gradually and beat until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after the addition of each egg.
  4. Add sifted dry ingredients (flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt).
