Ingredients

  • 1 cup olive oil or 2 sticks butter or margarine, melted
  • 1 cup Italian-style bread crumbs
  • 1 loaf (16 oz.) Italian bread

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Cut the Italian bread in half lengthwise.
  3. Place the bread on a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, combine melted olive oil, butter, or margarine with Italian-style bread crumbs.
  5. Spread the breadcrumb mixture on the cut surfaces of the bread.
  6. Switch oven setting to broil.
  7. Broil the bread 3 inches from the heat source for one minute or until the surface is bubbly and lightly browned.
  8. Slice and serve immediately.
