Crock Dills are flavorful homemade pickles with fresh dill, garlic, and spices, ideal for preserving cukes and adding a tangy crunch to sandwiches and snacks.

Ingredients

  • 6 to 10 cukes
  • 2 Tbsp. pickling spice
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 4 qt. water
  • 1/2 cup kosher salt
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1 tsp. alum
  • bunch of fresh dill

Instructions

  1. Place dill on the bottom of the crock.
  2. Add whole cukes on top of the dill.
  3. Add pickling spice and whole garlic over the cukes.
  4. Boil water and then add salt, vinegar, and alum.
  5. Allow the brine to cool.
  6. Pour the cooled brine over the cukes in the crock.
  7. Place the lid on top of the crock.
  8. Let the pickles ferment for 4 days before serving.
