Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb butter
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup pecans, finely chopped
  • 1/3 cup confectioners sugar
  • 2 tsp ice water

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter until fluffy.
  2. Sift in the flour and confectioners sugar.
  3. Stir in the vanilla and ice water.
  4. Add the chopped pecans and mix well.
  5. Make 2 rolls with the dough.
  6. Wrap each roll in buttered foil and freeze for 2 hours.
  7. Slice off thin slices of dough from each roll.
  8. Shape the slices into oval rolls, like cocoons.
  9. Bake in a slow oven at 250°F until lightly browned.
  10. Allow the cookies to cool.
  11. Roll the cooled cookies in confectioners sugar and store in an airtight container.
