Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup vegetable shortening or lard
  • 4 to 6 tablespoons hot tap water
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups milk

Instructions

  1. Combine flour and 1/2 teaspoon of the salt in a mixing bowl.
  2. Cut in the shortening until the mixture resembles bread crumbs.
  3. Mix in enough hot tap water to form a dough that sticks together.
  4. Shape the dough into a ball.
  5. Divide the dough into two equal portions.
