Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 c. butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 1 c. water
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 c. sugar

Instructions

  1. Blend and mix the flour and softened butter or margarine to a paste.
  2. Divide the mixture into two portions and shape each into a long strip on an ungreased baking sheet.
  3. In a saucepan, mix the remaining butter, water, and almond extract.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil, then remove from heat.
  5. Add the flour and sugar to the saucepan, stirring until smooth.
  6. Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then beat in eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  7. Divide the filling in half and spread evenly over each pastry strip.
  8. Bake in a 350°F (175°C) oven for approximately 1 hour or until golden brown.
  9. Ensure not to underbake for best results.
