- Mix together the cornmeal, flour, milk powder, soda and salt. Add the molasses and mix thoroughly.
- Add the racing, boiling water.
- Mix quickly so that all the meal and flour will be well scalded.
- The results will be a soup dough, like cake batter. Grease with oleo 2 one pound coffee cans and fill with batter so that there are at least 1 1/2 inches of air space at the top. Cover with aluminum foil (bright side down) and tie foil on around tops of cans.
- Place on a rack one inch off the bottom in a large kettle of boiling water which comes 2/3 of the way up the cans. Cover kettle and steam for 5 1/2 to 6 hours.
- Watch the water level while steaming to maintain the 2/3 coverage.
