Date-Orange-Nut Spread

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups chopped dates
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup sweet white wine
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated orange rind
  • 1 large navel orange, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup almonds, toasted
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, toasted
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom

Instructions

  1. Combine dates and raisins in a bowl; add wine. Cover and chill 8 hours.
  2. Process date mixture, orange rind, and remaining ingredients in a food processor until slightly chunky and spreadable, adding more wine if needed.
  3. NOTE: For testing purposes only, we used Sunsweet chopped dates and Mogen David white wine.
