A rich, sweet date and pecan roll with a caramel-like flavor and chewy texture, perfect for snacking or sharing as a dessert or treat.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 1 pound stoned dates
  • 1 pound shelled pecans

Instructions

  1. Boil sugar, milk, and butter until it forms a soft ball in water.
  2. Put in the stoned dates and beat for about 3 minutes.
  3. Remove from fire.
  4. Add the shelled pecans and beat until it is beginning to get firm.
  5. Take it from the pan and roll it in a damp towel to shape it into a roll.
  6. When it is cold and firm, slice into pieces, about 1/2-inch thick.
