Deep Fried Twinkies

Ingredients

  • 1 twinkie
  • 1 c. plain flour
  • 1/2 c. corn flour
  • pinch baking soda
  • milk or beer
  • oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. Chill the twinkie by keeping it in the refrigerator.
  2. DO NOT FREEZE.
  3. Mix the flours and baking soda together.
  4. Add milk or beer (beer gives lighter results) until you get a batter with the consistency of thin cream.
  5. Heat the oil until a small piece of bread will brown in a few seconds, but do not allow oil to smoke. Remove the twinkie from refrigerator, coat completely in the batter.
  6. Lower into the hot oil and fry until golden brown.
  7. Can sprinkle fried twinkie with powered sugar, cinnamon or add some fruit toppings.
  8. Kids like theirs topped with chocolate syrup.
