Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. butter or margarine
  • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • raspberry, apricot, prune or any filling (Solo in cans works well)
  • confectioners sugar

Instructions

  1. Thoroughly blend shortening, cream cheese and sugar.
  2. Add flour, baking powder and salt.
  3. Mix well.
  4. Knead to form stiff dough.
  5. Roll to 1/4-inch thickness on well floured board.
  6. Cut into 2-inch squares.
  7. Place filling.
  8. Place in ungreased baking sheet.
  9. Bake at 350° for 15 to 20 minutes until lightly browned. Sprinkle with confectioners sugar.
  10. Before rolling on any board, may freeze dough in freezer to make easier to roll out.
